Growing up farming in Esparto, California, a small town of roughly 3,500 people located in Yolo County, Schwenger always thought she would pursue a career in the agricultural industry, or in medicine.

Cal Poly Choir alumni return to perform in “Traditions” concert
University Singers will open the concert with several works ranging from traditional to modern, including “How Lovely Are the Messengers” by Felix Mendelssohn and the gospel work “Make a Way” by Byron J. Smith. The group will be directed this quarter by guest conductor John Knutson.
Cal Poly’s United Movement returns Feb. 17 with Illuminate Dance Showcase
According to the event’s website, the showcase intends to help both the dancers and audience “connect and understand” while creating “a moment of unity and togetherness” through dance.
SLO Symphony to perform ‘A Grand Occasion,’ opening with work inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.
The performance will open with jazz pianist and composer Patrice Rushen’s “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory,” a symphonic work inspired by the legacy of the late Martin Luther King Jr. that includes a quote from his 1968 “I Have a Dream” speech.
UCM recognized for outstanding work in University Communications and Publications
University Communications and Marketing (UCM) was recognized for its achievements in university communications and publications, receiving four regional awards from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in 2023.
