Tickets for Cal Poly’s 84th annual Poly Royal Rodeo tickets sold out Wednesday evening. They went on sale last Wednesday.
Last year the 83rd Poly Royal Rodeo sold 2,000 tickets in a record 30 seconds according to AnnMarie Cornejo, director of communications for the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences.
According to the Cal Poly Rodeo Instagram, 50% of tickets were sold out by the end of the first day of sales. This year, they sold out in one week.
Thursday and Saturday seats were already listed as “not many left” on Cal Poly’s tickets website within the first hour of sales and tickets for Friday were completely open for purchase as of Wednesday afternoon.
Poly Royal is hosting more than 11,000 seats, almost four times that of previous year, after it was announced the events would be moved to Spanos Stadium. University rodeo coach Ben Londo said in a press release from December that the move was made in order to “give more supporters and fans the chance to watch our students perform.”
