A pipe near the Student Services Center burst on Tuesday afternoon and left multiple Cal Poly buildings without running water for 48 hours.Â
The following buildings were impacted, according to Neville Morton, a representative of Cal Poly Facilities and Management Development:Â
- Building 26, Graphic Arts
- Building 26A, Printing Press
- Building 115, Chase Hall
- Building 116, Jespersen Hall
- Building 117, Heron Hall
- Building 124, Student Services Center
- Building 186, Construction Innovations Center
- Building 187, Materials Demonstration Lab
- Building 61 K, Spanos Stadium (east end)
According to Cal Poly, water was shut off in those buildings to complete the repairs, which finished yesterday by 5:00 p.m.
Water sprayed from the broken pipe and flowed across the Student Services patio next to a bike rack where an electric scooter and bike were chained. One Cal Poly student was seen trying to pull her electric bike out from the rack.
Workers were shoveling water off the patio by Tuesday at 4:00 p.m., and a mud wall was formed by 4:32 p.m.
By Thursday, the pipe was fixed, and water was restored to the buildings where water was shut off.
