Former Saturday Night Live actor and comedian Chris Redd, is performing at the Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Hosted by Associated Students Inc. (ASI), the comedy show is free for students with a PolyCard. Registration is required and students must have a government-issued ID to enter.
Redd was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2017-2022, according to The New York Times. Redd has a comedy special on Max titled Chris Redd: Why Am I Like This? and is starring in a new reality show called Resurrected Rides on Netflix.
In 2018, he won an Emmy for co-writing a musical sketch for Saturday Night Live called “Come Back, Barack.” In the music video style sketch, Chance the Rapper, Kenan Thompson and Redd sang about wishing Barack Obama was president again.
Katie Pierce, student manager for ASI events and math junior, worked with a booking agent who suggested Redd. Pierce received requests for Redd to come to Cal Poly on student surveys from past ASI events.
Pierce said she is excited for the show and loves hosting large-scale performers.
“It’s fun to be able to give directly back to [students] and give them something that they want,” Pierce said. “It’s fun to be able to just see everybody’s faces on a Wednesday night during midterm season, to be able to just chill and laugh and take some stress out.”
