San Luis Obispo police and fire departments responded to a vehicle-motorcycle collision that resulted in injuries on Wednesday afternoon. The accident also led to a temporary road closure of eastbound Foothill Boulevard between California Boulevard and Santa Rosa Street for over two hours.

At the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Casa Street, a 24-year-old motorcyclist received major injuries and was moved to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries, according to a San Luis Obispo Police media release.

The 58-year-old driver was cooperative, remaining at the scene after the police had arrived. The driver and passenger were then sent to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The Severe Collision Investigative Detail and Detectives were brought in to take over the investigation. SCID is a specialized unit that consists of highly trained crash reconstruction investigators.

Drugs and alcohol were not suspected as a factor in the collision, and the investigation is still ongoing.
