Nano’s Coffee, a family-owned coffee company known for producing its own coffee beans, recently opened its second location on the ground floor of the Summit SLO apartment complex at 790 Foothill Blvd.
The shop is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Fridays.
The new shop follows the success of their original drive-through location in Paso Robles, where the Nano family first started serving their specialty coffee beans to the Central Coast. This new location marks the Nano’s first sit-down coffee shop.
Owner Valerie Nano said the shop is unique because all coffee drinks at both locations use the Nano family’s coffee beans. According to Nano’s Coffee Trading’s website, the coffee beans are grown in Nano’s hometown of Villa Rica, Peru, in the Nano’s 60-acre coffee plantation estate.
“We produce our own beans,” Nano said. “We grow them ourselves, so we know exactly what goes into the beans and what we give our customers.”
According to the website, the Nanos take a “seed to cup” approach, overseeing every step of the coffee production process and ensuring a high-quality product.
“You don’t find that very often,” Nano’s Coffee barista Amanda Anderson said.
Nano said the new coffee shop features a welcoming and homey interior with a bright atmosphere. Yuka Shindo, a patron of the shop and business senior, said the shop is much more spacious than she initially thought.
“The space is for everyone,” said Anderson. “It’s a great place to study or hang out with friends.”
Nano said although the Foothill location is new, her family has been local to Paso Robles for around 20 years and is heavily involved in farmers’ markets in town.
“We’re just excited to expand our coffee and our business here in SLO,” said Nano.
