The Bank Job:
There’s nothing better than a good heist film, and critics agree that The Bank Job, with its suspense and decent storyline, delivers just that.

And it’s about time Jason Statham finally received some praise. Acting as a car dealer who takes on a heist with a beautiful model and ultimately ends up in more trouble than he planned, Statham is finally in a role that isn’t one dimensional (although I’ll have to see for myself if that’s truly the case and if he can actually act the part).

Thriller/heist fans should certainly check out The Bank Job, as it is surprisingly not a failure.

The Band’s Visit:
There are so few foreign films that end up in the U.S. as a wide release and movie fans should take advantage of the “The Band’s Visit” and its visit to the U.S.

This award-winning film has racked up nothing but raving reviews as a comedy with heart that is smarter than most mainstream American films.

The film tells the story of an Egyptian police band that goes to play at an Arab arts center ceremony in Israel, but end up in a small, desert town. As the band tries to find its way to the arts center, “The Office”-like comedy with the heart of “Juno” ensue in this delightful film.

10,000 B.C.:
While the trailer alone should tell give you every reason not to see 10,000 B.C., I’d be delighted to give you a few more.

This truly revolutionary film tells the story of a mammoth hunter whose unusually hot girlfriend is stolen by warlords. Naturally, he gets his fellow hunting friends together to go save her. But that’s not epic enough, right? Clearly, he must save civilization while also saving his girlfriend.

While the visuals, although stunningly fake, may be somewhat of a high point for 10,000 B.C., a ridiculous, over-the-top “original” story combined with terrible, no-name acting makes this film a delicious treat.
