Students interested in installation art are welcome to join award-winning artist Katie Grinnan at Cal Poly as she speaks about her work this Friday.
Grinnan, who has won a Guggenheim Fellowship among other awards, was invited to speak by art and design professor Michael Miller.
The Cal Poly jazz ensembles will present an evening of jazz music and showcase their talents in their winter concert “Just Jazz” Saturday night.
This end-of-the-quarter event will feature about 38 student musicians, focusing on the ever-changing world of jazz music, from classical to contemporary jazz styles, as well as everything in between.
It’s easy as all hell to describe the new record from the up-n-comin’ Canadian band Faunts. Simply imagine the sound of British-dream-poppers, Monster Movie, and then marry it with the work of the now defunct New-Wave-Retro-Futurist outfit known simply as my favorite.

As long as I can remember, Ernesto “Che” Guevara has been characterized as being either the hero and backbone of a daring rebellion whose face is printed on countless T-shirts, or a cutthroat soldier hungry for power.
With 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. swim practices six times a week, there’s no time to goof around. Accessing government documents should now be easier thanks to the work of two Cal Poly graduates at the U.S. Government Printing Office in Washington D.C.
The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) unveiled its Federal Digital System (FDsys) Jan. 15, an electronic database designed to provide easier access to government documents for the general public and the more than 1,250 libraries that participate in the Federal Depository Library Program.
Edward Sullivan, associate dean of engineering for research and graduate programs, died Monday from complications relating to cancer. He was 64.
“Ed was an outstanding scholar, teacher and humanist,” said Daniel Walsh, associate dean for the College of Engineering.
Two weeks ago thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members attended Focus the Nation: Building a Sustainable Economy. The attendance for the three-day event was impressive, but not nearly as significant as the number of people who chose to voice their opinion on what Cal Poly should do to become a more sustainable university.
