Growing up without sisters, I always dreamed of having one. I was that little kid who begged my mom to set up playdates, hoping to find the sisterly bond I saw in others. That longing has stayed with me, but now it feels like a childhood dream has come true – I finally have the sisters I always wanted. Gaines’ fight, like many we have seen in recent years, is fully manufactured. This is not a real issue. Trans women make up such a fractional percentage of sports. Only about 40 NCAA athletes out of more than half a million total are transgender, according to research by Athlete Ally. In addition, the NCAA rules regarding trans athlete participation have been in place since 2010.
