For the past few days, the media has been proclaiming victory for Barack Obama. I heard one pundit say that the election is over and there is no way John McCain can win. The downward spiral in the polls seems to be catching those working for McCain in the whirlpool as well.
Choose the road toward the future of hope
An open letter to Cal Poly Christians
Suppose I were to announce that an unknown candidate has just entered the presidential race. He is a natural leader and, most importantly, he stridently opposes abortion. In fact, his position is much stronger, purer and and more severe than that of both McCain and Palin combined.
Conservative voter guide
Election day is just around the corner. While some of you may have already voted absentee, this guide should help the rest of us make those important ballot decisions come Tuesday, at least throughout the conservative prism. In that regard, I contend most ballot measures need to be vetoed for economic reasons alone.
Not your traditional trick-or-treat fun
During the time of witches and wizards and goblins and ghouls, Halloween presents itself as a masterpiece of disguise. It is a time to transform into something that is not your real persona, to take on a different character and to hide behind a mask, both literally and figuratively.
Cutie, Costa wow Poly crowd
Death Cab for Cutie put on a great show at Cal Poly Monday night, fans said.
“It was a good show for sure,” said history junior Chris Andrews. “I was afraid because we were sitting high up, that the sound was going to be bad, but the acoustics sounded excellent; the staging was done really well.
'Zombies, Man.They freak me out'
I like zombies. No, I take that back. I frickin’ love zombies. Ever since I was nine, when I saw George A. Romero’s 1968 black and white cult classic “Night of the Living Dead,” on my uncle’s tiny TV, I’ve been hooked (By the way, all of Romero’s zombie flicks are great, even the remakes).
Passion Pit: love songs
During my freshman year, one of my resident advisors wrote a love song to a girl in my dormitory. He recorded it by himself using an acoustic guitar and presumably a computer microphone, burned it onto a CD and gave it to her. Of course, the CD got turned into an mp3 and shared on the network and we all got to hear it.
Poly patch provides pumpkins, education
With all the abnormally hot weather, it may not feel much like fall. But that hasn’t stopped the Cal Poly crops club from selling pumpkins and letting the public pick their own right from the patch.
The seeds for the club’s largest fall fundraiser were planted in June.
Student activists campaign for candidates in free time
Change has unofficially dubbed itself the theme of this election. From packed arenas and small townhall meetings, the call is being echoed by millions of Americans. They’re people who are angry, frustrated, inspired and motivated to do something about the status quo, and in some cases, they’re working for change right here on campus.
How-to voting guide for students
Fill in the bubbles and feed it into the scanner. Voting is as easy as filling out an 882-E Scantron, but come election day there may be some obstacles students will not foresee.
“The ballots are really simple,” said San Luis Obispo County Clerk Recorder Julie Rodewald.
Election day rebels with a cause
When independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader came to Cal Poly to speak in late September, hundreds piled into the auditorium and overflowed out into the hallway outside, hustling and bustling to get a seat. Mixed in the shuffle stood Scott Waddell, a student passionate about politics but without a candidate.
