On the ground floor of the Graphic Arts building lies a little-known secret that takes you back to the 19th century, to a time where printing was done by hand and considered an art. Cal Poly’s Shakespeare Press Museum looks just like a printing office from the 1800s and is run entirely by students.
Shakespeare Press Museum: a hidden treasure
Could Barden be a Panther?
It’s no secret Cal Poly senior receiver Ramses Barden is attracting more and more NFL Draft attention as the season progresses. Some sites have even moved him up into the second round, such as NFL Draft Dog, which projects him going to the Dolphins (whose fans, apparently, want him at No. 98 overall). Here’s an […]

Defense propels Mustangs to win over South Dakota State
This story was posted at 12:37 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19. The No. 3/5 Cal Poly football team passed a critical road test Saturday, defeating No. 21/22 South Dakota State 42-28 at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium in Brookings, S.D. The Mustangs defense hounded the Jackrabbits, recording a school Division-I record 10 sacks, and freshman safety Greg Francis intercepted two passes in the win.
Third-largest crowd ever sees Poly fall in double OT
The Cal Poly men’s soccer team was defeated in double overtime 1-0 by No. 23 UC Santa Barbara on Friday at Alex G. Spanos Stadium in front of the third-largest crowd in regular-season NCAA men’s soccer history.
The game, which was broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel, was played to a scoreless deadlock after regulation and through the first overtime.
Party like it's (UFC) 89
Cal Poly has a history of wrestlers-turned mixed martial artists, with former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell firmly entrenched as one of the faces of the UFC for the past several years. Chad Mendes, the Mustangs’ top grappler last year, made his mixed martial arts debut last month with a quick first-round victory.
L.J. a fantasy flop
Larry Johnson obviously doesn’t own himself in any of his fantasy leagues. It was announced this week that the Kansas City Chiefs running back will sit out Sunday’s game for “violating team rules.” Who is to blame in this situation? Is it the running back for breaking rules? Is it the coach for sitting the team’s top player? Either way, there is nothing you can do about the situation.
Women's soccer battles UCSB for Big West lead
Big West Conference supremacy is up for grabs when the Cal Poly women’s soccer team hosts Central Coast rival UC Santa Barbara at 5 p.m. Sunday in Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
The Mustangs sit alone atop the Big West, a half-game ahead of second-place Pacific and a full game ahead of third-place UCSB.
Mustangs take on familiar foe
It may seem as if South Dakota State isn’t at all the same football team that rumbled over Cal Poly last year.
There’s no more Cory Koenig, the senior running back who took 21 carries for 259 yards and four touchdowns – including three on distances of 32, 46 and 52 yards – in the second-most dominant rushing performance ever allowed by Cal Poly.
Price was right for Poly student
Cal Poly business junior Nikole Mackenzie’s studying paid off this summer, not by gaining a degree, but by becoming the winner of an award showcase on “The Price is Right”.
Mackenzie organized a trip with 20 friends to CBS Television City in Los Angeles with the intent of making it onto the program.
