Let’s face it: The United States stumbled out of the starting blocks into this century. This administration has supremely screwed things up, that’s a fact. I can’t help but feel a bit despondent when thinking that I spent the prime years of my life growing up in a Bush-run America.

'Wondrous' tale shares triumphs, struggles of Dominican family
Reading “The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao” by Junot Diaz, winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, was more than just comprehending type on a page. It was more than getting to know a plot, some characters and a story line. Each time I opened the book, there was no telling where I would be taken, whom I would meet, or what intense emotion I would feel.
Singer Matt White teams with the Gap to spread political message
Singer and songwriter Matt White, a “Rolling Stone” top 10 ‘artist to watch,’ is coming to San Luis Obispo tonight. White performs his acoustic pop sound at Downtown Brewing Co. this evening.
White’s headlining tour, Vote For Love, began Oct. 7.
“I wrote the entire album when I was in college,” White said.

KCPR and Cal Poly athletics could reunite
If KCPR 91.3 FM listeners tried to find some underground, indie rock to appease an insatiable hunger for music Oct. 4, they would have been disappointed.
In fact, they probably would have taken a second glance at the radio when play-by-play announcers described Cal Poly wide receiver Ramses Barden stretching over a defender, trying to score a touchdown after a 67-yard reception during the Mustangs’ 49-22 win over South Dakota.
Last-minute goal keeps Mustangs unbeaten in Big West
A last-minute goal gave the Cal Poly women’s soccer team a 3-0 Big West Conference record and head coach Alex Crozier his 200th career win Sunday against Cal State Northridge.
The Mustangs (8-6) came off back-to-back wins over Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside to get a 1-0 victory at Alex G.
Women's center promotes positive body image
Forget about the number on the scale. It’s time for a three-day Love Your Body event held on campus today through Wednesday, put on by the Cal Poly Women’s Programs and Services.
Student coordinator of Education Programs and nutrition senior McKenzie Hall modeled the three-day series after the National Organization of Women’s Love Your Body campaign.
ASI holds last-chance voter drive
In an effort to bring political activism back to universites, Cal Poly will host a last chance voter drive for students to register before the Oct. 20 deadline. Democracy Week, held today through Thursday, will have a voter registration drive and feature state and local political figures both on and off campus.
Democracy week counts down to Nov. 4
Activism, civic engagement, grassroots efforts, democracy. What do these words mean to you? With Nov. 4 just around the corner, there is no better time than today to open that voter guide and research the issues. I assure you that there is no greater feeling than that of being politically informed! Regardless of your extreme political interests (or lack thereof), voting is a vital part of the democratic process.
Avoiding a personal credit crisis
Your meal points are almost completely used up and it’s not even halfway through the quarter. The food on campus was great the first week but now it tastes insipid. The weather’s changing from summer to fall and last year’s winter clothing is, well, last year.
Club brings art lovers together
It may be small in size, but Cal Poly’s Studio Art Club is big on acquainting its members with the outside art world.
The Studio Art Club started out as a fundraiser for the university’s art and design department but has since evolved into a separate entity.
