Stephanie England’s article about Gov. Sarah Palin is a typical example of liberal rhetoric: full of ironies. Placing blame or declaring hatred is easier than researching the truth.

England delights in what she believes might have been an unintentional revelation of Sarah Palin’s personality when she is overheard asking Joe Biden, “Can I call you Joe?” (the word “ya” was a Tina Fey/SNL skit.

While mindlessly walking amongst the chaos that is El Corral during the first week of classes, scrambling to find my textbooks like everyone else, I came across a somewhat peculiar sight: an English teacher had assigned a graphic novel as required reading for a class, but not only that, one that I own and love.

Hipster Bullshit: Omigodponytail

The day has finally come. Baltimore art punkers Ponytail will be playing here in San Luis Obispo tonight at the SLO Art Center with Awesome Color and Skykillers. Their album, “Ice Cream Spiritual,” stayed at the top of the KCPR charts and over the summer cemented itself as a best album of the year for quite a few DJs.

Hand-picked entertainment to liven up UU Hour

For the students, by the students: Associated Student Inc.’s weekly Concert in the Plaza event is made up of bands hand picked by the student body. Every Thursday in the University Union Plaza, a concert gives students a chance to take a break from their classes and relax while watching a variety of local and well-known acts that they themselves have chosen, such as Augustana and The Expendables.

Grammy-winning Marsalis comes to Cal Poly

He is known to many as a godfather of modern jazz. Now the smooth, soul-filled sounds of three-time Grammy award winner Branford Marsalis and his saxophone can be heard tonight at 9 p.m. in the Cohen Center.

Marsalis will perform a unique collaboration with the Philarmonia Brasileira, under conductor Gil Jardim.

Cal Poly men win, women second

The Cal Poly men’s golf team used a home course advantage in cruising to a 45-stroke win at the inaugural Coast BMW-Coast Nissan Collegiate Golf Championship on Tuesday at the 6,724-yard, par-71 Monarch Dunes Golf Club in Nipomo.

The Mustangs were led by sophomore Jarod Knight’s 10-under-par, three-round total of 203, easily capturing the individual championship by eight strokes over Gregor Main of UCLA.

Patrick Sigler is no stranger to college soccer.
