The San Luis Obispo Police Department arrested a suspect after a person was barricaded inside a room at the Hotel Cerro, according to Police Public Affairs Manager Christine Wallace. The department closed off Garden and Marsh Streets from 11 a.m. until mid-afternoon Tuesday while they worked to get the person out safely.
The department’s regional SWAT team responded to the scene, and police vehicles from Paso Robles and Grover Beach were also present. A drone deployed by law enforcement circled the hotel.
A woman observing said she saw emergency vehicles there when she walked by the scene around noon.
“I saw a few police cars, I heard an ambulance and the fire department was there,” the woman said. “Eventually, we saw people come with the drones.”
There is no current threat to public safety, according to Wallace, and she said more details will be released soon.
