The San Luis Obispo Police Department arrested 36-year-old Elijah King for a hate crime threatening synagogues in the area, according to a press release from the police department.
“I’m going to blow up every synagogue in a 20-mile radius. This is a real threat, call the police and report me for terrorism,” King wrote on X.

Detectives located and arrested King in a parking lot by San Luis Obispo Public Market yesterday afternoon. He was booked in the county jail on Felony False Bomb Threat and Felony Hate Crime Enhancement charges.
The first charge is labeled as false because law enforcement did not find any evidence of a bomb, according to SLOPD Investigations Unit Sergeant Evan Stradley.
King is currently still in custody as of 9:00 a.m. today under a $50,000 bail.
The Western States Information Network, a law enforcement entity that provides criminal intelligence information to other agencies, notified the city’s police department in August of the threatening post made on social media.
The information network sends the appropriate agency for them to investigate further. SLOPD treats these tips like any other investigation, which may involve running a background check on the individual or getting search warrants, according to Stradley.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes publicly available.
