Looking for something special to do for Valentine’s Day this year? Here are a few ideas for the romantic day. This year, Feb. 14 lands on a Wednesday.

Sidecar Jazznight in San Luis Obispo

Each Wednesday, Sidecar Cocktail Co. hosts an all-night happy hour with discounted cocktails and appetizers. From 8-11 p.m., local jazz band The Jazz Trio Forte plays in their downstairs area where they offer drink specials and a romantic ambiance for couples to mingle. This would be a great spot for people to dress fancy and enjoy high-end drinks and entertainment together this Valentine’s Day.

Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove

For a fun adventure in a scenic area, a short trip to Monarch Butterfly Grove in Pismo Beach could be the perfect spot. Monarch butterflies migrate down the coast of California from late October to February every year and rest in groups in Pismo Beach. This nature preserve is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is a peaceful spot to enjoy the beautiful butterflies and have lunch if the weather permits with a significant other.

Eberle Winery in Paso Robles

For couples over 21, Eberle Winery in Paso Robles offers free wine tasting and cave tours to their guests. Located at 3810 CA-46, they offer wine with a gorgeous view of their vast vineyards. Reservations are required for this spot fit for those looking for a fancy-feeling, relaxing and cost-effective outing.

Local Farmers Markets

Arroyo Grande, Atascadero and Pismo Beach all have local farmers markets on Wednesdays with local and in-season fruits, vegetables, flowers and other goods. Couples can stroll along the many booths at any of the locations and purchase fresh products.

Arroyo Grande’s market happens weekly on Wednesday mornings from 8:30-11 a.m. in the Smart and Final parking lot at 1464 East Grand Ave. Atascadero’s market is from 3-5 p.m. in Sunken Gardens and Pismo Beach’s market happens from 4-7 p.m. on the Pier Promenade at 649 Dolliver St.

Hot Spring Soak at Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort and Spa

Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort and Spa offers naturally heated mineral springs hot tubs for $23 per hour per person. For a relaxing option on this holiday, couples can reserve a hot tub with privacy fences and peaceful tree-lined hills. For the whole month of February, they are offering a “Sweetheart Soak” special which includes scented oils, sparkling rose prosecco and chocolate truffles with the one hour hot tub reservation for $130 for 2 people.

Sunset Drive-In Theater in San Luis Obispo

Grab blankets, pillows and comfy clothes and head to the Sunset Drive-In Theater at 255 Elks Lane for a chill and cozy date idea away from home. Tickets are $12 for ages 12 and up and are cash only. Their movie showing list is updated every Wednesday for the following week, so check out their Facebook page for current showings.
