Three people were shot in Isla Vista on the 6500 block of Sabado Tarde Road on Monday at around 7:30 p.m.

The suspected gunman was identified as a Hispanic male by a Crime Alert sent out by the UC Santa Barbara Police Department . He was last seen fleeing the area towards Highway 217, possibly in a white sedan.

Students were instructed to take shelter in place and not leave the buildings they were in. The shelter advisory was lifted after the suspect was detained, per ABC 7’s Elex Michaelson.

The attack comes nearly one year after Santa Barbara City College student Elliot Rodger’s murderous rampage through Isla Vista, when he killed six people and injured 14 more before fatally shooting himself.

No UC Santa Barbara Police Department public information officers were available for comment as of 9:15 p.m.

Correction: A previous version of this article said Sabardo Tarde Road, when in fact it is Sabado Tarde Road.
