A male student was reportedly assaulted in Poly Canyon Village by six people early Saturday morning, according to a campus-wide Clery Act notification email this afternoon.

Around 3 a.m., six men reportedly assaulted a male student on the pathway between Inyo and Buena Vista in Poly Canyon Village, according to the university’s email.

The student did not sustain life-threatening injuries, University Spokesperson Matt Lazier said. Additional details of the assault were not immediately available “in the interest of preserving the integrity of the ongoing law enforcement investigation,” Lazier said.

Suspects were described as “Hispanic, between 18 to 20 years old” and “driving a white four-door sedan,” according to the email.

The Jeanne Clery Act requires universities to alert community members of any crime that might pose a threat.

The Cal Poly Police Department is seeking help from the public to identify the suspects. Community members can report a crime to the police by calling 805-756-2281 or emailing police@calpoly.edu

In addition to reporting to the police department, anyone who might have information about this crime can call Crime Stoppers at 805-549-STOP to report the information anonymously.
