Cal Poly hosted a livestream of the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) memorial service for the victims of the tragedy near UCSB this past Friday. Associated Students, Inc. staff had to add extra rows to accommodate the dozens of students who poured into the auditorium in front of a large projection screen.
The memorial lasted nearly two hours, during which Chumash Auditorium remained silent. Several prominent speakers were in attendance, including University of California President Janet Napolitano and Richard Martinez, whose son, Christopher Michaels-Martinez, was killed Friday.
In addition, members of Cal Poly’s faculty were present for the live feed. Geneva Reynaga-Abiko, director of Counseling Services and Dean of Students Jean DeCosta were both present, among several others.
