Dexter Lawn has been going through extensive construction for several weeks. Dexter Lawn’s walkway pavement is now removed, showing a long underground pipe.

This construction is part of an ongoing project that stemmed from a 20-year-old hot water pipe that leaked at the joints. The leaks were spilling too much water, which made it too expensive to maintain, requiring the entire pipe to be replaced. The pipe itself runs through campus and needs to be repaired section by section.

According to Interim Director of Facilities Planning & Capital Project Perry Judd, the construction on Dexter Lawn is expected to be done within a few weeks despite rain delays from the past few months.

“This project has been going on since November,” Judd said. “We are working our way through campus and the project will continue all the way through fall of 2018.”
