Float wins top parade award

The votes poured in and Cal Poly emerged the winner at the 120th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade. Capturing 3,219 out of 10,618 votes, the “Seaside Amusement” float created by the Cal Poly universities of San Luis Obispo and Pomona won the inaugural Viewer’s Choice Award.

Global warming storm drowns out dissenting thought

In the battle to prove or disprove the existence of anthropogenic, or man-made, global warming (AGW), a battle which often orients along the cultural left and right, I must confess that I have little vested in furthering either side’s campaign. I contentedly join the ranks of elite weathermen everywhere in my unequivocal conviction that tomorrow’s weather will be the same or different.

Why I Love Comics

So I was up in San Francisco a few days ago, as a final hoorah before the new quarter, with a couple dear friends of mine. On my visit I made it my goal to go to at least one of Frisco’s comic book shops. Now, before any of you Bay Area people flame me with hate e-mail about calling San Francisco “Frisco,” you would only be wasting your time.

July: Saudi contract signed A controversial contract to develop and implement a new engineering program at Jubail University College (JUC) in Saudi Arabia was signed by Cal Poly in early July. However, almost six months lateer, JUC has yet to sign its portion so the contract is not finalized and remains private, raising concerns as to whether the deal will actually go through.
