The Gallop sits down with Cal Poly Athletic Director Don Oberhelman to discuss the overall outlook of Cal Poly Athletics in a long-form interview conducted by Mathew Ho and Nick Bandanza. Oberhelman delivers insight into the various new athletic facilities, like the Comerford Pavilion and the Madden Center, and provides a new timeline for the Madden Center’s opening.

With the ever-changing landscape of modern college athletics, Oberhelman candidly discussed the realistic future of Cal Poly Athletics and athletics across the Big West Conference. Oberhelman openly states his frustration with larger universities’ emphasis on money and wants to maintain Cal Poly’s viability and functionality in the same manner moving forward.

Matt, Nick and Oberhelman share stories regarding Alex Crozier’s career as the head women’s soccer coach. As the winningest women’s soccer coach in Big West history’s final season came to a close, Oberhelman had great praise for the long-time Mustang.
