University of California business and finance veteran Steve Relyea will take over as the California State University’s (CSU) chief financial officer, according to a news release issued Wednesday.
Relyea, who worked for more than 30 years in the UC system, was chosen after a nation-wide search by the CSU Chancellor’s Office, according to the release.
“I am delighted that Steve is joining the CSU,” CSU Chancellor Timothy White said in a statement. “He is a visionary and innovative leader, with decades of skills and experiences that will strategically strengthen the CSU to meet the needs of California going forward.”
The CFO position, which also serves as a top adviser to the chancellor, opened up after Benjamin Quillian retired this past July.
Relyea’s appointment is expected to be confirmed by the CSU Board of Trustees later this month.
