A Cal Poly employee, Kevin Coulombe, was arrested on suspicion of contacting a minor for sex and arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual purposes, stemming from a continued investigation into the sexual exploitation of children in San Luis Obispo.

On Sept. 12, the San Luis Obispo County Elections Office announced the winners of its inaugural “I Voted” sticker design contest: third grader Melanie Rathbun from Old Mission School and senior Joanna Rawlings from San Luis Obispo High School. The contest, which ran from July 3 to Aug. 21, invited students in grades 3-6 and 7-12 to submit designs.
