Car congestion causes concern on campus

This fall, the University Police Department won’t offer much new relief for students looking to park on campus.

“The situation this year is good and bad; good in that the same spaces will be available as when students left, but there won’t be any big improvements awaiting them,” said UPD Associate Director Cindy Campbell.

Downtown SLO gets 'chained'

Downtown San Luis Obispo has seen a chain reaction in the past year. Well, a chain store reaction, that is.

In the past 12 months or so, the downtown area has seen about 15 new stores open, eight of which have been part of a chain. These include U.S. shopping mall favorites like Abercrombie & Fitch, California Pizza Kitchen, Talbots, Pottery Barn and more.

Poly Canyon Village

Cal Poly is no longer just a college campus; by August 2008, it will have its own village. Poly Canyon Village housing development is planned for sophomores and will operate as its own community. It will feature retail stores, eateries, a recreation center, an Olympic-sized pool and many other everyday commodities dorm students don’t always have a chance to enjoy.
