Review: Morning on the Green was a clever and exciting replacement to mayhem on the streets
My 3 a.m. alarm buzzed on my phone, and I jolted awake to the sound of an Irish jig and my roommates preparing drinks in the kitchen. Though I despise being woken up early, I had to persevere for my final St. Fratty’s day at Cal Poly.
I can confidently say it was totally worth it, because Cal Poly crushed it for this year’s 4:45 a.m. Morning on the Green concert at the Lower Sports Complex on Saturday the 14. In my four years of Fratty’s at Cal Poly, this has been one of the best days. I think a lot of us that had experienced the craze and thrill of the annual block party were grieving it, and needed something that could stand up to the sheer number of students the block party brought.

Review: Kal Penn taught me that life is a game of balance
Kal Penn has a decorated career dipped in two of America’s most sought-after spheres: Hollywood entertainment and national politics. From HBO’s Industry to the Harold and Kumar franchise, to serving on former President Obama’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, Penn shared his insight on experiences at the Performing Arts Center last Thursday, Feb. 26.
I did ‘Lose my Breath’ watching Illuminate this year
It’s rare to see jazz, hiphop, Chinese lion dance, Mexican folk dance and ballroom all on the same stage within the span of a single show. Cal Poly students, families and community members were lucky to experience exactly that at Illuminate this past Saturday.
President Armstrong delivers State of the University address
On Tuesday night, our great, possibly the greatest ever, leader President Jeffrey D. Armstrong got up on the podium to address the wonderful students of Cal Poly.
People clapped. People stood up. Some people didn’t, and those people were immediately exiled to Cal Maritime.
Don’t give professor ratings too much power over your schedule
Kaylie Wang is an English sophomore and opinion columnist for Mustang News. The opinions expressed in this article do not necessarily reflect those of Mustang Media Group. Half way through last summer, I made the mistake of looking up my professor’s ratings. I was sitting in a cafe with my friend while she was registering […]
You should be more cautious around campus petition booths
Their brief, buzzword-full rushed pitches aren’t great indicators of credibility. These types of petition booths on Cal Poly’s campus, while not all necessarily harmful or badly intentioned, should be treated with caution and skepticism upon encounter. These booths are trying to receive as many signatures as they can, and if they can rush you into signing something, they will, whether or not you even know what you’re supporting.
